What is a k100?

The k100 is for customers who want the power potential of the K-Pro without having to program their own ECU. The k100 system consists of modifications to the customer's ECU and an extra circuit board that can only be installed and programmed by a Hondata dealer. The k100 uses standard K-Pro library calibrations, and a dealer can select, load, modify and tune a calibration like a K-Pro calibration.

Unlike the K-Pro, the k100 does not have datalogging capability nor is the k100 customer tunable or programmable. Installation, programming and all tuning is done by the Hondata dealer.

The k100 can be programmed by the dealer to do anything the K-Pro can do. It is therefore suitable for normally aspirated applications, nitrous, as well as turbo and supercharged engines.

What does it cost?

$600 (plus dealer installation charges.) Optional custom tuning by the dealer is extra.

Who is the k100 for?

Similar to the s100 for earlier Hondas, the k100 is for people who do not need datalogging and who do not want to tune their own ECU.

Why would I get the k100 instead of a reflash from Hondata?

Power - Since it uses the same programming as the K-Pro, a properly tuned k100 system will make more power than any reflash.

Customization - Reflashes are optimized for certain engine configurations. That's because when the Hondata reflashes were first released in 2002, there were very few performance aftermarket add-ons. Today there are many, and the combination of parts is beyond what a single reflash can cater for. The k100, on the other hand, can be configured and programmed by your dealer exactly for the modifications on your car. The reflash cannot.

Convenience - Up until the release of the k100, all ECUs needed to be sent to Hondata for reflashing or K-Pro installation. This involved at least three days without your car and often more for customers outside of US borders. An authorized local dealer can install the k100 system in much less time.

Cost - Since a local dealer installs the k100, there are no shipping expenses to send the ECU to Hondata for reflashing.

Upgradeable - Should you wish to later upgrade to a K-Pro from a k100 you need not send your ECU to Hondata. Your dealer can perform the upgrade.

Are there any disadvantages to the k100?

Honda/Acura may accept a reflashed ECU for warranty replacement as no hardware changes were made to the ECU. With the k100, changes are made to the ECU, so Honda will most likely not accept a modified ECU back for warranty.

Can I upgrade to a K-Pro at a later date?

Yes, the upgrade is handled through your dealer. A slot will need to be cut into the ECU for the USB cable to connect to the K-Pro board. The K-Pro board simply takes the place of the k100 board. This can be easily be done by your dealer.

What ECUs will the k100 work in?

The k100 will work in any ECU the K-Pro will work in, specifically:

The k100 is not compatible with any V6 or automatic ECU nor any ECUs prior to 2002.

Who can install the k100?

Hondata, or an authorized Hondata k100 / K-Pro installer.

Does the installer need the key and immobilizer for k100 installation

No, only the ECU itself is needed. The immobilizer function is not altered in any way.

How do I become an Hondata k100 / K-Pro installer?

To become an installer you require equipment similar to:
