Microsoft has reportedly recently showed off a prototype Tablet PC running a customized version of Windows XP along with a software developer kit (SDK) for the new platform at their Professional Developers Conference (PDC). The unit is not expected to be available until 2002, and it will include handwriting and voice input. [SOURCE: Infoworld]

Bantam Interactive has a new slim format MP3/WMA music player - the BA350 (credit card size: 3” x 2-1/8” x 5/8”) - that can hold over 128-MBs of digital music files, and will also offer an advanced Lithium Ion Rechargeable Battery.

MSNBC is reporting that U.S. military operations in Afghanistan includes the use of handheld computers for a variety of tasks including: coordinate inspections, download email, access the daily roster of operations, tracking troop movements, laser targeting, and carrying encrypted mission data.

Palm has announced two new Palm OS developer programs, a new certification program, and the availability of new online training courses. [SOURCE: Infoworld]
