Certicom has announced a new encryption product line for Palm OS handhelds called "movianCrypt" that is expected to give mobile users access to transparent industrial strength encryption. [Yahoo#1, Yahoo#2, ZD NET]

Financial Times published on July 13 is reporting that Palm is considering separating into two companies -- one focused on hardware, and the other focused on licensing of software. This would be a lot like what Qualcomm did in 2000.

Motorola has announced a new family of ARM processors that includes Dragonball processing capabilities called the "Dragonball MX1 ARM920T processor" that is expected to run at speeds between 150-MHz to 200-MHz, and would be ideal for next-generation handhelds and mobile communication devices. [Press Release] Also announced was the Dragonball Super VZ, which is still based on the 68K core and will run at 66MHz, serving as a transition chip for companies not ready to move to the ARM processors, and also for lower-end handhelds when the ARM transition is made. Motorola's Dragonball family is currently used in Palm OS handhelds.

IBM has announced a rebate for select MicroDrive products.

Enfour has announced Fancy Galaxy for EPOC -- a shooting game that supports English, Japanese, and Chinese languages.
