IBM has released a new ThinkPad called "TransNote" that offers handwriting recognition and digital note transcription to either PDF or JPEG formats. The new computer is a combination much like the Seiko SmartPad for Palm OS computers, in that text written on a paper tablet is captured and transferred to the notebook. Arkon Resources has a "Universal Deluxe Palm-Sized Computer Windshield Mounting Kit" called the CM226 (US$50).

American West has announced new "real-time flight status and flight schedules" wireless service that uses Everypath wireless application tools, backend services, and expertise. The service will support Palm OS, WAP-savvy cellphone, and RIM Blackberry two-way pager devices.

SmartDisk has announced a new portable CD-R/W that uses a computer's FireWire bus or PC Card for data transfer and for power. The "VST FireWire CD-R/W" (US$430) includes plug-n-play functionality for both Windows and Macintosh systems, and comes bundled with Adaptec Easy CD Creator for Windows or Toast software for Macintosh users.

i2Go has announced plans to develop a new line of wireless digital audio players that will work with Bluetooth or 802.11b wireless standards to interface to networks, desktops, and handheld computers.

Purple Software has announced the release of a new game -- "Go for Psion" (strategic board game). Between now and February 28 the game is being offered for UK$30 (vs. UK$40).
