TechWeb is reporting that two-way short messaging services (SMS) is going to be more popular for accessing Internet data services than Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) in the United States.

BSQUARE has created a new software developer kit (SDK) for Windows NT and NT Embedded called "Time Critical Extension (TCX)" that should make writing device driver code significantly easier and faster. Pricing starts in the US$3495 range for 10 licenses.

BT Cellnet has signed a new agreement to deploy Research In Motion (RIM) BlackBerry Wireless Handhelds to customers in the United Kingdom (UK) using GPRS (General Packet Radio Service), and RIM has agreed to supply BT Cellnet with 175,000 units that support Java2 MicroEdition (J2ME) over an undisclosed period of time.
